The
Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities’ (cIcu) Outreach Programs
has recently launched 3 new online communities for secondary and post-secondary
education professionals who share similar interests and challenges. The
networks will allow each group to share ideas and resources to better assist
students and families.

The Hispanic Outreach Network focuses on improving and increasing college and career awareness, access, outreach and resources for Hispanic families. The Network will grow to include upcoming events, discussion forums, news and online chat, calendars, and more.
The Middle School 2 College Network focuses on expanding connections between middle/junior high schools educators and post-secondary education to increase students’ college and career awareness and knowledge and decrease the disconnect and disassociation from school that occurs during the middle years. The Network will grow to include upcoming events, discussion forums, news and online chat, calendars, and more.
GEAR UP in New York Network is focused on the exchange of best practices, resources and exchange of information between GEAR UP schools’ staff and program administrators and post-secondary educators. The GEAR UP Network will grow to include upcoming events, discussion forums, news and online chat, calendars, and more.
These projects are a part of federal grant projects that provide the majority of the project’s total budget. The remaining funds come from the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities’ Outreach Program.
