Campus Description: Barnard is a small, select liberal arts college for women, partnered with Columbia University and located in New York City.
Its faculty, more than half of whom are women, are prominent scholars as well as dedicated and accessible teachers. As an undergraduate affiliate of Columbia University, Barnard has a cross-registration program enabling students to enjoy a vast selection of courses and extracurricular activities, Division I athletic competition and a fully coeducational social life. Adding immeasurably to a Barnard education is its location in New York City, where students have access to thousands of internships and unparalleled cultural, intellectual and social resources.
Sports: Varsity Sports, NCAA Division I: Women's: archery, basketball, crew, cross-country, fencing, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor/outdoor track and field, volleyball.

Special Programs: The Athena Center for Leadership Studies was launched in September of 2009 and offers a range of academic courses that examine all aspects of women's leadership, sponsored lectures, mentoring and leadership opportunities, and a lab which offers a wide range of workshops designed to teach practical elements of leadership to students, alums and other leaders in New York.
