Campus Description: Podiatric medicine is the study of the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of afflictions involving the lower extremity. The New York College of Podiatric Medicine is the first and largest college of podiatric medical education. Founded in 1911 by Dr. Maurice J. Lewi, a physician, educator, and secretary of the New York State Board of Examiners, he set the standards in medical education and practice and formulated the state's first legislation governing the practice of podiatry.
The College's teaching/training facility, the Foot Clinics of New York, is located on campus and is the largest ambulatory foot care center in the world. In more than 50,000 patient visits a year, students at the College are offered an unequaled "hands-on" experience and training program. The College's alumni account for more than 25% of the nation's practicing foot specialists.
